DocIndexer: feel the greatness

Vattekkat Babu has been playing with DocIndexer, the search engine built on Lupy. We needed a search engine for our extranet at work. So, I grabbed DocIndexer, installed the COM objects, wrote a quick script to dump the documents nightly from the DB and index them with DocIndexer, and, lo, a search engine. It took me about half an hour. I was in awe of its excellence. Can’t believe I forgot to mention this! Consider it to have the full Castle Langridge endorsement.

  1. BTW, my thanks are in order – I used your sortable.js to make the UI more useful. Initially I  used the COM object version, but discarded it in favour of command line  exec – only because I think it might be useful that way if I decide to switch to another search.

DocIndexer is a great practical application of how Lupy can be used. It brilliance is its simplicity. Like you, within half an hour, I actually had a working app! Spent another half an hour and I got it to a state where a non-techie friend was able to use it.
